Plum Crazy
There are always surprises when buying a new home. Luckily ours have mostly been good... One of our first discoveries was that all the backyard trees were fruit trees. They were all barren when we first saw the house in April. By May it was clear we had fruit trees but not sure exactly what fruit they would bare. Now, in June, we know we have peach, plum, lemon and apple. The apples have a while yet but the plums are going crazy, incredibly sweet and juicy. I've never had fruit so delicious from my backyard.
So what does one do with an abundance of plums? First, give them away, you will have more and chances are your neighbors will give you delicious things in return like zucchini and avocados. Second, eat straight from the tree; wipe those babies off and eat 'em quick before your clothes are covered in pink plum juice. Lastly, bake many cakes.
So far I've made delicious plum cobbler with a peach cobbler recipe and just sliced plums as a substitution. A little more tart like a tart cherry pie but so incredibly delicious, especially with ice cream.
I also made the New York Times Plum Torte. Another simple but beautiful dessert. And it's not super sweet so could be great as a coffee or snack cake. But I'm prego so everything is better with ice cream!
I'm having some issues linking recipes so here ya go:

Exercise and New Duds
This morning I was getting ready to go for a walk with some ladies and got on my Brooks and my left foot was still too swollen and achy to wear a real shoe so I had to cancel. Boo. So I sat on the sofa feeling sorry for myself contemplating eating a bowl of cocoa sharks and instead got out my weights and did a Fitnessista.com arm burner and a ton of squats and felt like I got a decent workout in...and then had a handful of cocoa sharks 😀
I'm trying so hard to stay active this pregnancy but it's so much harder with a toddler and falling all the time doesn't help either. I gained quite a bit of weight with my last pregnancy even though I was exercising daily so I'm hoping to keep it under control this time. I'm definitely splurging more than I have in a long time but its been so nice not worrying too much.
Not only did I gain a lot of weight with my last pregnancy I was also much heavier to begin with. I donated or sold all my old maternity clothes because they were so large (and most were too hot for a summer prefnancy anyway)so this time I started out with nothing. Luckily I have a few close friends that had a lot of maternity clothes to be donated so I struck gold. I'm so lucky to have made so many great mom friends and the clothing was such a blessing.
Bump pics in new to me duds:
Oh dear, pardon the terrible lighting and folded laundry. We're still unpacking and getting settled. I keep thinking I'll get to some projects when Little Man goes back to school next week. I hope.
Have a great night!

A Bed Full
Since the big move the Little Man hasn't been sleeping the best. Not the worst either so I can't really complain. But a few night time wake ups here and there and most mornings we wake up with a bed full of humans and dogs.
I keep thinking I'll get up early to go for a walk or use the elliptical but a happy and well rested toddler trumps exercise any day. So I've yet to try to sneak out of bed. Luckily we now reside in a cooler climate so midday walks and exercise are doable. Hopefully I can figure something out before the new addition arrives in October.
Now we're off to explore a bit and maybe hit up a few parks.
Have a great day!

18 weeks
Exercise this pregnancy has been a little hit or miss. Packing and moving definitely put a hitch in my giddy up but my main issue is tripping and injuring myself. Yup, 3 times already I've tripped and been injured for weeks at a time. Ugh. So running has fallen by the wayside because I don't want to kill myself, ha. I did run up to 17 weeks and now I'm trying to walk whenever I can get in the miles; 3-4 days a week. We also have a community pool a few blocks away so we go there quite often.
This pregnancy has been quite different from my previous one. Little Man's pregnancy was one of those where I had no symptoms but an expanding waist. Had I not had that I could easily be one of those women that didn't know they were pregnant. This time around I've had all the symptoms from extreme nausea weeks 6-11 to heart burn, fatigue, bloating and blah. Definitely feel pregnant this time.
My cravings haven't been too weird. Chicken and rice is the main one. Which isn't weird in general but weird for me since I don't love chicken or rice. Steak and potato girl hands down.
And here are a few pictures of our new home and my big belly.
Hope you all have been well!
